A new mobile veterans outreach service is a step nearer as the SW Consortium of local authorities, Forces Connect South West launch their new outreach vehicle.
Funded by the MOD Covenant Trust Fund the new outreach service is part of a package of resources developed to raises awareness of the covenant and to make a difference in the support provided to the whole military community in the south west. Shown off initially at Armed Forces Day National Event in Salisbury the van was then deployed at the Local Government Association Event in Bournemouth where it was used to support the MOD Covenant Team in promotion the covenant to the wider local government community.
Planning is now underway to schedule its deployment where it will work with the Association of Drop In Centres (ASDIC) to help map veterans hubs across the south west, develop new partnerships with military charities and support agencies and look to provide direct support to veterans in need of assistance.
