Quite appropriate as it turns out, in the words of Canned Heat – I’m on the road again!

A very sunny weekend in Weymouth started on Friday with an introduction to Sue and Jon, assistant manager and manager of the Rex Hotel, who kindly volunteered to provide tea, coffee and breakfast sandwiches to homeless veterans.  I then moved on to greeting veterans on to the 3 camping sites being used for the weekend, Weymouth Rugby Club being the largest

The weekend’s planned acvtivities started early on Saturday, meeting veterans and escorting them to the Veterans Hub, where hot showers, hot and cold drinks and food were laid on.  Then it was up to Portland Bill and the historic lighthouse and a magnificent view along Dorset’s Jurassic coast.

All veterans had the opportunity to speak with me and Healing Hands, a mental healh charity, that honoured a promise to give immediate assistance to anyone in need. In total I spoke with 800 individuals over the course of the weekend and as the photos show, a good time was had by all.
